Syndicate Has Co-Op Missions, Here's A Peek

Supposedly the nine co-op "Hostile Takeover" missions in Syndicate are inspired by missions from the original game. You can download the remix track heard in the trailer over at the Syndicate Facebook page.

Scene Group Razor1911 Patches Out Origin For Legit BF3 Customers
- 5 Comments
Usually when you hear of Razor1911's exploits it usually involves cracking and releasing a pirate friendly image of a protected game or application. For whatever reason however they recently decided to take on the challenge of nuking EA's Battlefield 3 Origin requirement for legit Battlefield 3 customers. If reports are true, then Razor1911 did indeed succeed in removing said requirement from Battlefield 3 via a modified .exe file.

Of course, running such a file could potentially get you banned from the Origin service, depending on how EA chooses to react. This could mean losing access to your game(s) entirely, so it's probably not worth the risk even if you are having problems with Origin. Considering the amount of problems I've had with BF3 since launch I've just chosen to give up with trying to play until some signficant patches hit. No risk there!

Shyvana Lets Players Morph Into A Dragon In League of Legends

Heroes of Newerth did the whole wolf thing last week, and the Dota 2 beta got it's own two-headed dragon. Now Riot reveals Shyvana, a hero that morphs into a dragon as part of her ultimate.

Blah... Skyrim & Dota 2 Edition
Ok, so that super secret game that I was expecting last week did arrive, and yes it was Skyrim. Like usual with Bethesda RPG titles I always tend to get distracted by side quests and exploration, so I've still got a pretty epic journey ahead of me even though I've already spent a lot of time with it. Unfortunately I'll be unable to share impressions until the embargo lifts, but I should have had the chance to get an entire playthrough in by then.

With RPGs in mind, do you guys tend to struggle with hoarder like tendencies when you play? I do! I'm seriously always at the brink of a full inventory, this has been a problem as far back as the old Ultima titles, maybe even TSR classics. It's like I want to take every last thing I can find in the hopes I can turn it into a few bucks. The limitless inventory change to Dark Souls actually gave me a break from the stress of managing inventories, and I loved it.

Oh, and about that Dota 2 story that I put up last night. Well, the NDA lifted quite some time ago, and I've played it a lot since I got access. Dota 2 even in beta form has a level of polish that few companies can afford to apply, Valve obviously being one of them. If you haven't signed up for the beta yet I highly suggest you do just so you can get in early, and see what it's all about. I think Valve is really in a position to rock the foundation of the current MOBA kings.

That's all for this update, but we've got a special little surprise for you first! Jube has been secretly feeding data taken from mindjack sessions on Gmoist to the guys behind Italian Spiderman on Youtube. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Danger 5 trailer!

LOTR: The War In The North Now Available

As of today, The Lord of the Rings: The War in the North is now available on Steam. I haven't heard much hype on this lately, but I've had an eye on it for a while. There's no demo available at this time, so I may end up waiting for a sale unless there are some really good reviews rolling out. If you pick it up, drop us a line and let us know how you like it!

Skyrim Behind The Scenes Preview

Bethesda released a new behind the scenes video that previews some of the in-depth "making of" that'll be included in the limited collector's edition.

Cool stuff, I can't wait to get my hands on Skyrim, but I went with the convenience option and pre-ordered on Steam instead of having to pay for expedited shipping; no collector's edition for me. Do any of you guys have the collector's edition on order? Also did you notice there are dragons - fighting each other? Excellent.

Dota 2 Beta Opening Up Very Soon, New Survey, and Comics
- 3 Comments
You guys better rush to check your inboxes if you signed up for the Dota 2 beta, because you may have an email from Valve waiting for you! The good news is Valve will be expanding the beta, the bad news is Valve is looking for just a wee bit more information from potential testers first via a short but sweet survey. A hardware snapshot will be made during the process, which will help Valve ensure that a diverse pool of hardware configurations takes part.

If the email wasn't enough for you, then today's blog update very clearly confirms the expansion of the beta, including news that anyone accepted into the test will get an extra two keys for their friends.

We’ve just finished our first significant expansion of Dota 2 server capacity around the world, and that means it’s time to kick this thing up a notch. Starting this week, we’ll be handing out Dota 2 in increasing volumes. To celebrate, we’re releasing the first part of the official Dota 2 comic, Tales from the Secret Shop.

Once you’ve read today’s part, make sure you fill out the Dota 2 Survey in Steam to secure your place in the upcoming invitations (if you haven’t restarted your Steam client for a few days, you might need to do that before clicking that link). The extra data the survey provides will allow us to ensure we invite a wide spread of players and hardware.

One thing everyone will tell you is that Dota is a game that’s more fun with friends. Because of that, we wanted to make sure everyone we invited could bring a couple of friends – so everyone who receives Dota 2 will be given two extra copies that they can hand out to whomever they’d like. You’ll find your extra copies in the Steam section of your Steam account’s item inventory, and you can use the Steam Trading feature to give them to your friends.

Once you have Dota 2 installed, keep an eye on this blog. We update the game every Thursday with extra heroes, features, and bug fixes, and we’ll cover interesting elements of those updates right here. We’ll also be giving you some more insight into the development of Dota 2 over the coming months, as we roll through the rest of Dota’s many heroes.

As mentioned above, the very first part of the "Tales from the Secret Shop" comic strip is now live.

New Max Payne 3 Screenshots Released
Rockstar has released some new screenshots for Max Payne 3. Apparently, they’ll release a new trailer sometime this month. Max’s comeback is still scheduled for March of 2012.

Personally, I’m upset by Max’s poor trigger discipline in two of those screenshots. Obviously, the events of the past two games have made him reckless.

Battlefield 3 Development Switched From PC To Console During Production
- 32 Comments
DICE GM Karl-Magnus Troedsson confirmed in the latest issue of PSM3 that Battlefield 3's lead development platform switched from PC to consoles during production of the game. Apparently the switch was done to meet the release date on time. (Thanks buliwyf76!)

As quoted on CVG in a previous article, EA said it lead development on PC because that audience "has been the one complaining."

I guess PC players didn't complain quite enough if they switched lead development to consoles!

Exec producer Patrick Bach said: "We actually haven't heard any complaints from the console audience. We are letting the PC audience make use of the very expensive hardware that they just bought so they can tick all the boxes and go for the 64-player fights."

Notes From The Bunker

First off, I hope you all had a happy Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday. I’m a Christmas baby (and yes, my parents did try to return me the next day), so I associate Christmas with shrinking Telomeres and morbid thoughts of my subsequent mortality. Halloween, however, is all fun and games.

Personally, I like to play a decent horror game around this time of year. Generally, I’ll reinstall a classic like Clive Barker’s Undying. Sometimes, I’ll pick a newer one up like Amnesia. This year I’ve been playing a lot of cooperative Dead Island with a good friend, which I’ve enjoyed immensely.

So, how did you guys spend your Halloween and what are your favorite horror games?

P.S. I was going to post a video showing off the Saiga 12 with a red dot site (Battlefield 3 doesn’t do it any justice) and pontificate about the “need” for Left 4 Dead 2 to add the Saiga 12 to its arsenal. However, Jube’s dog had diarrhea, and that ruined everything.
