February 03, 2009 - The most recent form of retro gaming-inspired merchandizing comes in the form of Ice Invaders, an ice cube tray that shapes your cooling-cubes into the shape of aliens from Space Invaders. Ice Invaders was designed and produced by FRED, a cookware company that specializes in oddly themed or otherwise peculiar tools and accessories. More »

Google Earth 5.0 Released

February 02, 2009 - Earlier today, Google announced the release of Google Earth 5.0, the latest version of their popular virtual globe, map, and geographic information program in San Francisco. Google's CEO Eric Schmidt and Former Vice President Al Gore were on hand this morning to detail and launch the newest version of the software. Since the software originally launched in 2006, Google Earth has expanded from standard 2-D satellite imagery to incorporating three dimensional geography and buildings, star mapping, and Google's popular Street View feature. This latest update, however, takes the cake in terms of newly added features; version 5.0 now incorporates underwater geography, historical imagery, and the ability virtually roam Mars. More »

You Control the Hubble

February 02, 2009 - In celebration of the 400 year anniversary of the invention of the telescope, NASA is turning control of the Hubble Space Telescope over to the largest concentration of depraved, sex-crazed degenerates in the world: the internet. NASA's Hubble's Next Discovery – You Decide event gives people across the globe the opportunity to choose the next mission for the telescope by voting for one of six objects. The objects consist of planetary nebulas and galaxies previously unobserved by the Hubble. Each object has been identified and pictured, albeit with little detail or color, by other means. On the event's website, NASA has prepared brief descriptions for each candidate for voters to consider, along with providing up-to-date rankings of each object in terms of popularity. More »

Smashable Alarm Clock

February 02, 2009 - There are two types of people in the world, those that rise rejuvenated and refreshed at the sound of their alarm clock, and those that have made mortal enemies of the cursed noise box. Regardless of the tone nor how peaceful of radio station we set it to, alarm clocks find a way to make even the mellow sounds of smooth jazz send us into a blind rage of flailing arms, desperately trying to hit (or destroy) the snooze button. Well if you're punching out alarms like it's going out of style, maybe it's time to upgrade to a clock designed to take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. More »

Well, we do have some good news, effective personal technology protection is well on its way, and a new authentication method developed by Sony will require that computer thieves hack off one of your fingers in order to boot up your hard drive; sounds promising, right? Scientists Clone Pet Dog

January 30, 2009 - Losing a pet can be devastating, especially when disease claims their lives. The bonds formed between mortals and their animal companions (as we've learned from Fable 2) can last a lifetime, if by lifetime you mean about a dozen years or so. One American couple though decided that they did not want to say goodbye to their cancer stricken pooch, and instead opted to have an exact clone of their Labrador created in a lab (oh the irony) immediately after the original puppy passed away.
