We're still counting the days till AvP Requiem's release. I
know the Aliens FPS and RPG are coming out in 2009, but Requiem
is just two months away, man. So we wait, read the news, report
the news, and imagine today is that day in December.
Here's one of the better Predator masks out there, made by
Kithunter and Paul over at The
Hunter's Lair forums. It looks very real. Being the
man of science that I am, I give it an A+ for sound realism
and soteriology.
Is it still a round-up when it's one post? Brother-director
Greg Strause made one
post on the IMDb boards. What's it about? The Wolf Predator's
mask in AvP Requiem--it was done from scratch.
"The entire sculpture was done from scratch," he
said. "It's much closer to P2. It couldn't be further
from the last film. There hasn't been enough material released
for anyone to make a good judgement, so hold off on your bias'd
comments until the film is out."
Smackdown! I'd hate to be the guy is he's talking to (because
I'm so awesome, I'd hate to be anyone but me, really. Pow-pow!).

thread.
In this month's issue of Toyfare Magazine, the Wolf
Predator action figure by NECA Toys is featured
on the front cover. There's a full-length article inside,
plus photos; PredatorStuff.com
scanned the pages.
****block! You can't read the article - picture quality's
too low. You are so screwed. There's still some cool
pictures inside, plus as far as I can tell, it's an interview
with NECA's Director of Product of Development Randy Falk
and AvP Requiem's lead sculptor Kyle "Tankman" Windrix.
No doubt they said something.
The Alien'll be out next month (here's a preview
of it), but we have to wait till early next year for the Predator.
Till then, pick up a copy of Toyfare somewhere.
Alien War isn't going to open in Glasglow, Scotland for their
UK debut, according to a statement on their MySpace
blog. Instead, they've moved to London, after scoring
a deal for some central real estate in the city. (You just
know this is punishment for the special edition DVD release
of Braveheart, man.)
Alien War is a "total reality" experience run at
exhibition centers. After its British debue in April, 2008,
it's expected to cross-over to the United States (and Europe,
Japan). Check out their MySpace
blog and this Wikipedia
article for more info.
You can pre-order a 2008
calender for AvP Requiem at Calendars.com. It looks not-bad
(but kind of familar?). It's officially called the AvP 2 2008
Wall Calendar. You can buy it for thirteen dollars. Pre-order,
if you're interested. Thanks to Jason for the tip.
You ever think AvP2 is a little too...dark? That's probably
the game's point, but for people bothered by it, there's a
color-enhancing mod called "Little
Bastard" out. It makes all the skins and weapons
in the game easier to see.
It's almost like the Predator putting on his infrared mask
and sees the world completely different. Brighter. More intense.
Download
the mod and see what it's all about. And join
the discussion on our Forums, where a balance debate is
swirling around it already.
A teaser
trailer for the AvP Requiem game is on Amazon.com. It
shows some pretty intense scenes, which is more than you'd
expect for the PlayStation Portable.
Props to Rebellion on this project. It's out in November.
Watch
the full video. Thanks to René Köhlmann for
the tip.
Figures.com is reviewing all the Predator toys in a special
feature on its Web site--from 1990 through 2007. You start
out with junk from Kenner, until you make your way up to the
peak at SideShow. Like a journey up Mount Everest, only for
people with no legs or no ambition.
"Quiet or papa spank!"
Too bad there's no (new) info about the AvP Requiem figures.
But it's a good
summary.
I'm not a fan of the haters in this world, but this video
parody on YouTube is pretty hilarious. It's a running
monolouge of the AvP Requeim trailer. The guy doing it says
some pretty crazy sh** (no doubt negative, too), and voices
even crazier 'sound effects.' Only - hey, hold on. Think a
minute. He's your everyday school (ass) clown, and it works.
No doubt a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, right?
Colin Strause: "On the most basic level
some things may still sound the same, but this is a very
very different movie. Most of the names didn't change because
we didn't have any issues with what they were, and many
of the setups are a bit similar because of the small city
enviroment, but entire last half of the film is totally
different than the review, and all the dialog and most of
plot points are completely different now throughout the
entire picture. Not only that, but what the Aliens and Predator
do is also all new and unique to our re-writes, from thier
actions, motivations, and where they came from.
"I can also tell you that we did lots of re-writting of
dialog on set with the actors as we would be getting differents
vibes in the heat of the moment. And then in editing we
have also evolved the film in different directions as we
re-structured scenes and removed sub-plots that we felt
were holding the film back. This is all part of the art
of film making. There is the movie you write, the movie
you shoot, and then the movie you edit. You could start
with a romatic comedy, shoot a thriller, but deliver an
edit of an action film.
"Oh well. I'm going to watch some DVD's and play some X
box.
Greg Strause: "We tried to do the
cool cameo thing...bring back Garber, etc, but it was met
with resistance. ... I've already said it. The whole thing
was re-written. Alot of the characters name stayed the same,
and so did their occupations. But its a vastly different
movie. ... If it got in the script, then obviously the studio
approved, and Shane did the changes. There is no george
ash in our film."
By RoguePL. Only thing I want to know is, how big is his kink
budget? I got fantasies of my own that need illustration.
Asian girl carousel, that's what I'm talking about.
Hey, plenty of fan art of the non-intimate nature:
Something for everybody in our Fan
Art gallery. Thanks to Ravager, RoguePL, and the abominable
Kevin for tonight's submissions.
