The release date for AvP Requiem - December 25th - pulls closer
and closer. 20th Century Fox is working Planet AvP to get the
word out; contests, exclusives, and others. Stay tuned!
It's time for another exciting issue of News Almost Worth
a Mention:
The official AvP Requiem
site has reverted to its previous, un-cool self. No new
layout. No movie poster. No 'new' release date of December
26th. What gives? The re-design was just a test--that must
be it. More news as we get it.
DailyTech
has an article about a traffic-control monitor that uses infrared.
The photo they use to illustrate is that of the
Predator. Thanks to Jim New for noticing.
The release date for Hot Toys' Power
Loader model kit has been changed to November, 2007.
Just like the first film, AvP Requiem is getting special
trading cards, by Inkworks. There's cards of characters
from the film and cards of the major action scenes.
Good thing they show a few on the Inkworks site, like this
one:
Yeah, daddy like.
The cards sell for three bucks a pack (eight cards). For more
info, drop by the Inkworks
Web site. Thanks to Chmmr for the heads-up.
The release date for AvP Requiem's been delayed one day; the
official site moved it
from December 25th to the 26th. I hope that's a mistake, 'cause
it means no Christmas opening. Maybe ticket sales on Christmas
day? It puts the green band trailer to shame.
The official site was updated with more than a release date-change.
It looks almost entirely new - check
it out.
Sister site Planet
Call of Duty wrapped up its re-launch extravaganza this
evening. It's all part of the Call of Duty 4 release,
and not a possible name-change to Planet Call of
Booty, as some have been suggesting.
Man, that's too bad. I had my "Baby, it's business time"
promo all set for the re-launch. They ignored all my letters.
Sierra uploaded
the box art for the new AvP Requiem PSP game on its Web
site. With the game's release only than a month away (and
the movie two months), they want us recognize this bad boy
when we see it.
It doesn't get any bigger. It says, "Aliens vs. Predator
Requiem - The Official Game of the Movie." Made by the
same people who developed the first AvP PC game, Rebellion.
And just like the first game, it's an FPS. Check out Sierra's
game
info section.
"20th Century Fox really does cut the
best trailers. The film looks like it is the most kickass
bit of monster mayhem we've had in a real long time. And
then the final music cue kicks in and I'm just - f*cking
- counting the moments to Christmas with Aliens and Predators
- and AlienPredators and the last one was quite a bit of
a mess. But we have a totally different team on this - and
although the initial script was dreadful - the location
change and at least the feeling seems to have changed quite
a bit."
Leave it to Knowles to always say the right thing...after
being so wrong the last time! It was AICN that posted
that bogus Requiem script review (link removed), so this is
a real turnaround. That's a good sign for our film.
A brand-spanking-new Aliens vs. Predator Requiem trailer has been released today on IGN - it's the green band trailer. You can check out a streaming version below:
A high-resolution version (60 MB) can be downloaded from FilePlanet.
A few of the more prominent AvP2 modders - Windebieste, Herr_Alien...hopefully
others - are urging the community to make more mods about
AvP Requiem. Sounds like a sweet idea to me! Look - they even
have a resource
thread to make it easier:
"If you are planning
on making mods, maps, models or skins for AvP2 based on
the AvP-R movie, please share and post online resources
here.
"This is a useful page that displays the Architecture of
the town of Gunnison:
"Feel free to post your own links to help assist mod Authors
gather information on custom projects."
Face it, if the AvP franchise was pebbles, Requiem would be
like a huge rock. We need to focus on - no, worship - the
rock. And that means putting the rock in the proverbial pipe-mod
for some serious smokay. And then we celebrate. AvP rules!
Check it out--some French dude demonstrating a remote-controlled
Plasmacaster prop on YouTube.
It's hydraulic, as far as I can tell. With lights. She only needs a more capable master - me. Hmm, that's right, little momma, big daddy's comin' to push your buttons.
You still play AvP2, right? Then download these new NVIDIA
ForceWare drivers for Windows XP. It smoothes out some
performance and reliability issues.

ancientpredator on The Hunter's Lair forums is working on
a Predator suit called the Warlord.
From way-back-when, y'know? Back then, hunting was so much
simpler when no one shot back with automatic assault rifles.
It was a chickensh*t hunter's paradise.
Unless that's made from human hair, I guess he hunts squirrel,
too. I'd kill to see his ad.
Name: Your momma Seaching For: Your momma Quote: Rippin' spines by moonlight, skinnin'
squirrel by daylight, it's Predawuss...!
Man, I sound like a politician. This bridge leads to somewhere,
though--to our Fan
Art gallery. Twelve added, mostly from people like Harry
Overend, Michael Ravan, Rogue PL, and Ravager. Good guys.
Let's check out their
work.
