"We're confirming the release date and we are going to meet that" is what they said today. The North American release date will be October 16, 23 or 30.
Speaking about the PS3/Xbox 360 versions of the game, an executive with Take-Two said that the two versions "are not going to be identical experiences but they are going to be close."
The second episode of episodic content for the Xbox 360 version of the game will be out "later in fiscal 2008."
"We deliberately tried to limit the number of special edition versions in our guidance."
Those are the main points I personally picked out. Good stuff.

GTA IV Trailer Fan Edit 17:19 PST | Jordan | Print News After many days of work, I am proud to debut my second fan trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV right here on PlanetGTA. The first one was created in June 2006. It was more of a "History of GTA" than anything else. At that time, we had close to no information about the game, and certainly no video or images.
It is now June 2007, and while we still don't know a lot about the game, we know enough for me to put together some original content for this website. I went about creating this with the goal to make the absolute best trailer with only the information and media that we have right now, and I think I did that.

New Original Content Coming 8:40 PST | Jordan | Print News I've been hard at work for the past few days creating something that I know you guys will enjoy. It is GTA IV-related. GTAQATSI was a video I wanted to do just to see how it would turn out. This new project is different and much more exciting. Check back here soon for the finished product.
Update (June 9): I am feverishly working finish this thing. It is a video that is about 90 seconds long. I don't have a release date for it, but it will be very soon.

GTA IV vs. 2 Days 2 Vegas 13:17 PST | Jordan | Print News Grand Theft Auto IV is not the only game of its type that will be coming out soon with a setting based off New York City. 2 Days 2 Vegas looks to be ambitious as well, and PlayStation Universe did a side-by-side comparison of screens from both games. Here is an example:
For the rest, go here and look at the comparisons.
"We contacted [Rockstar Games] for comment and were told that the game is on track for release in 'late October."
The release date that was announced back in May 2006 was October 16, 2007 for North America. October 16 is not "late October." As I predicted yesterday, I believe that the release date will be pushed back to October 23 or October 30. If this happens, the original European release date will no longer be October 19. It will most likely rather be October 26 or November 2.
This is all still speculation on my part and should not be taken as fact. If the European release date turns out to be October 26, remember that in 2004 on that same day, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released. Just an interesting tidbit. Stay tuned.
Halo 3 is coming out in September, and some believe that having both games come out so close together will be bad for sales. Also, the analyst believes that pushing the release date back a few weeks so that it rests in the next financial quarter will make Take-Two look a lot better by having all of the big sales in one quarter. This, instead of having a bunch of sales at the end of a quarter and then continuing into a new quarter.
I think it is all a bit funny. I'm not a financial analyst by any means, but what would be the point? To impress stockholders? To raise the stock a bit? You aren't fooling anyone by delaying it and having all the big sales numbers in one quarter if your paid analysts plan it publicly and talk to the press about it. Finances are funny, aren't they?
I believe the game will be delayed by just a few weeks. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was delayed by a week in 2004. We may be looking at an October 23 or 30 release date for North America...

PlanetGTA Questionnaire 9:45 PST | Jordan | Print News Be sure to go and fill out this quick survey that should take no more than a minute to complete. It asks questions pertaining to this website. I will use the feedback in order to better prepare PlanetGTA for the future. Thank you.

Also, you will have the ability to interact with your car trunks in the game. Whether or not it is something that will only be available for certain cars or for certain missions remains to be seen. Thanks to DC88 for finding this news in Official Xbox Magazine USA.
Update: Apparently, NaturalMotion euphoria has not been confirmed. Misinformation was passed around by trustable people, so this is a rare mistake. I still expect the system to be used in the game, though.

PSU3 UK & OP2M UK Preview GTA IV 12:28 PST | Jordan | Print News Two magazines, PSU3 UK and OP2M UK, have previews for Grand Theft Auto IV in their latest issues. However, new information is scarce. PSU3 UK claims that there will be four in-car camera angles. OP2M UK made the following outrageous claim:
"To get from one side of the new and improved Liberty City to the other will take you at least an hour."
That doesn't sound right at all. We'll get the official word on many details over the next few months. I do realize that this news came out a few days ago, but I have been preparing for a two week trip to Ludwigshafen, Germany that will be happening in late June.

Unwatermarked GTA IV Screens, Artwork, Logos 7:03 PST | Jordan | Print News Rockstar Games has released a load of screenshots, artwork and logos that have no watermarks such as the ones alluded to in the news yesterday. Also, they are not compressed, so being able to tell what signs say should be easier.
Also, look on the artwork page for three (or six, depending on how you see it) pieces of artwork. Here is one piece with the main character Niko Bellic:
Artwork can be viewed in very high resolution or a low resolution. Lastly, a new logo is out for the game. Here are the black and white versions:
Make sure to check out the other artwork. Stay tuned.
The article is hosted on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360IGN websites. The screenshots are hosted on IGN's "xbox360media.ign.com" website, but they needed a place to put the images, and they most likely chose to feed off that one location for both sites. The chances are good that the images are just plain renders from development and are not geared toward one system.
GameSpot has digital versions of the artwork for the game.
1024x576 is the strange resolution of screenshots over at CVG. I don't understand that policy. Why not keep the 1280x720 original resolution?
Lastly, Games Radar posted a preview of the same fifteen minute demonstration that everyone seems to be getting. No new information. Thanks to GTAF for the heads up.
