De La Hoya vs. Mayweather this weekend! Oh yeah, and games too.

Soulcalibur IV is Real
I've noticed that in your release section you have Soulcalibur IV listed yet there is not a single detail or screenshot of this game. Does this mean that it is speculation on IGN's behalf or what information have you gathered that says how long this game has been in development or when it will be released etc?

--Judd

Check the game object again (which you can do by clicking this) and you'll see that it isn't speculation at all. We've written two separate stories about the project where Namco Bandai confirms its existence -- so there isn't any speculation involved.

Here's one tidbit that isn't on there, though -- our spies in Japan report that the chances of seeing Soulcalibur IV before Tekken 6 are becoming more and more likely with every passing month. Interesting? Yes. True? We'll have to wait and see.

It's the Future, Man!
If you buy Ratchet and Clank, can you use the game on the PS2 or do you have to have the PS3 to play this game?

--Noah

We don't think the PS2 could handle this...
Unless Sony and Insomniac announce a PlayStation 2 port, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction will only be playable on your PS3. Putting it your PS2 would not only mean that the game wouldn't boot up, but it could also create possible fire hazards and intimacy problems.

Spider-Man Stinks
Dear Activision,

What the hell is wrong with you?

Why does Spider-Man 3 suck so bad? I just rented the game thinking that it would be better or just as good as the previous one... I was wrong. Everything that was good in Spider-Man 2 is not in Spider-Man 3. It feels like you just threw this game together to make some money. I believe that it is a step backwards for the Spider-Man Genre. I implore you to please remake it.

--Scotty

Spidey is definitely disappointing. Not only in the videogame world but I didn't dig the movie so much either (and this is coming from a big Spider-Man 2 fan). Did anyone else find the flick too disjointed with throw-together plot points and undeveloped characters? In my humble opinion, Ultimate Spider-Man (the game) and Spider-Man 2 (the movie) were both better experiences.

Screw You, Spider-Man Rocked!
This Greg Miller guy is an *expletive deleted*!

He gave the PS3 version the same score as the 360 one stated that the Xbox is smoother than the PS3. Why didn't you rate it lower? Why? Because you're a PS3 "kiss-ass!" You're a little punk! It's sad that these little teenagers read your reviews and follow your opinion. You don't know Jack! Guess what? Jack left town two weeks ago. Spidey 3 rocks!

--Barrer ATX

If both your game and movie didn't live up to the hype but you still made a billion dollars anyway, you'd grand-stand too.
Despite your absolutely compelling argument, I'd have to disagree.

--Jeremy

Doug Went Where?
A few weeks ago you said goodbye to Doug Perry and the word on the 'net is that he's headed off to start some "Super Site." I find it a strange coincidence that Luke Smith (from a competing website) left around the same time and that Nobody has heard from Greg Kasavin either. What happens if they join forces and kick your butt?

--Nick

If those three teamed up for a website it would last for exactly 10 seconds -- they're so different in how they approach what they do, I couldn't imagine them gelling into a cohesive unit. I can't say that I know Greg (only met him a few times) or Luke (not sure if I ever met him actually) well enough to say that for certain, but based on what I know of them and their work (and crazy Doug Perry), I just don't see it happening.

Also the fact that both Greg and Luke work in game development now (for EA and Bungie respectively) puts a wrench in your master plan.

Personally, I'd still like to see my old friends David Smith and Ivan Sulic start an Ebert and Roper-type game ratings show so that I could watch the whole Internet explode with their outspoken (and usually accurate and hilarious) critiques.

Farewell For Now
I may not have been into Spider-Man 3 that much, but with the big De La Hoya/ Mayweather fight happening tomorrow, my weekend can be salvaged yet. I think all the claims that the fight will "save boxing" are ludicrous (it doesn't need saving), but whatever sells tickets I guess.

My prediction? Mayweather in a close decision, though I hope he doesn't retire after the fight like he claims. Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Hatton, Clottey, Cintron, Paul Williams, Kendall Holt and Andre Berto are still out there. It's hard to call yourself one of the best of all time when you still haven't fought most of the elite guys in and around your weight class.

We'll see what happens tomorrow.
