Real questions and halfhearted answers.
E3 Attack Squad
I really think it sucks what E3 is going to do. I sent this email to E3 and call them on Monday:
Well I see that you are going to screw us non game industry people as in the fans of video games. As of the article from IGN as of Jan. 24, 2006 article and here it is:
January 24, 2006 - While the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo is certainly about games, the show is notorious for its often ribald atmosphere. By now, our readers are familiar with the barely-dressed "booth babes" which each year are as ubiquitous as the giant flat-screen displays and screaming speakers.
Game companies have long hired titillating models to lure drooling males to trade event booths. When this year's E3 comes rambling along in May, it could be a fully-dressed affair.
The show's directors have always published a dress code which would disallow bikini-wear and similar attention-grabbing garb. According to the E3 handbook, "Material, including live models, conduct that is sexually explicit and/or sexually provocative, including but not limited to nudity, partial nudity and bathing suit bottoms, are prohibited on the show floor, all common areas, and at any access points to the show."
Of course, in practice the rule is hardly enforced. This year's handbook, however, mentions a $5,000 fine for violating the code.
The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the organization behind E3, says it will issue a first verbal warning for conduct violations. An second offense will incur the $5,000 fine, to be paid immediately. Models will also have to switch to more modest dress before returning to the show floor.
"What's new in 2006 is an update and clarification of the enforcement policies; as we do from time to time, we have taken steps to ensure that exhibitors are familiar with the policy and how it will be enforced," Mary Dolaher, E3Expo show director, told Reuters.
Well as I said you want to screw us fans that want to see Booth Babes as the pics I am sending in my attachment want to see. We are getting sick and fed up with your "Communistic" approch in the enforcement of your will. Last years E3 and this years E3 are held at Convention Centers that are owned by the city where the con is held.
Since the buildings are owned by the city government the 1st Amendment rights stand. In case you forgot the 1st Amendment of the United States Consitution is "Freedom of Speech, Religion, Press, and Expression." The companies are allowed to express themselves by way of having Booth Babes wearing costumes as in the ones in the pics I am sending, and you have no right to forbid such expression. If you fine as it is said of $5,000.00 fine for infractions you will loose alot of business as in Game Companies will pull out of your convention and some companies like Sega, Capcom, Activision, and other big name companies will never show their games again as long as you forbid peoples right to show Booth Babes as they want. I hope that your happy on bringing down E3.

Hey--
Chris, you forgot to mention all the former Booth Babes who will now be forced into the unemployment line by this "Communistic approach." In reality though, once you rent a place, it's yours for that specified amount of time. If you want to put reasonable restrictions on who can enter and what can happen once you've rented it, that's your prerogative.

Real Subject Line: "Oldin Sphere"
Since the game is coming out the 22 nd of this month, why is there no talk about it. Is it really that bad?
-- ign insider 2-7-79
Hey--
Generally, we don't unleash our reviews until the game is out -- unless there's an exclusive or something. Jeff's playing Odin Sphere right now, so I went to him with your questions and concerns.
"We've done a preview and we've done videos and we're freaking busy," he said.
Yikes. Look for the review soon.

Dragon--
I went to THQ with your question, but a representative said the company couldn't comment beyond the January announcement, which stated THQ had the UFC rights through 2011. I wouldd imagine you'll see something eventually.

Halo on the PS2?
Hi there love your site! Just one thing when it said post popular game in this genre it had Halo: Combat Evolved (PS2)? Am i triping or have microsoft sold out their only money maker?
-- James
Hey--
There's a long story there, James. From the game's summary on IGN: "The title was originally designed as a breakthrough game for Apple's Mac systems, and console versions of the game also became a high-priority project for the development team when it signed with Take-Two. As all PlayStation 2 owners are aware, however, production on Halo was shifted immediately to an Xbox version in 2000 when Take-Two Interactive sold its 20% share of developer Bungie to Microsoft. Thereby solidifying Halo's position as an Xbox and PC exclusive (with a Mac port much, much later on) forever."

Top 10 Superhero Games Backlash
Your list was great! However, why was their no mention of Ultimate Spiderman? This was a wonderful game it was like playing in an interactive comic book. Plus you were able to play levels as Spiderman and Venom. Also, and I am just nit picking at this point but why is there no mention of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance?
-- Jason Lundberg
Hey--
Jason, I liked Ultimate Spider-Man, but not enough to vote for it on the Top 10. When all the votes were counted, Ultimate Spider-Man received zero. In fact, one editor even attacked it in his other votes: "Spider-Man 2 is better than Ultimate Spider-Man, so you jerks better not put that Ultimate Spider-Dude on the list."
Blame the news team.

You do your job, pencil neck. Don't tell me how to do mine.
Many of you have asked what it's like in the IGN offices. Chris Roper wears funny T-shirts, Hilary usually wears an Oakland Athletics jersey that reads "Lebowski" on the back, and Micah eats ridiculous amounts of free food whenever it pops up. We play games as well.
