Main Gallery Closes for Renovation
Beginning on April 24, 2007, the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum began an $8.3 million dollar renovation to the core exhibits of the life and times of George H.W. Bush. The re-design and construction of the museum will enhance the quality of the exhibits, attract more visitors and help to better describe the President’s historic impact on U.S. policy, world events and his commitment to public service. Many of the most popular exhibits will remain, such as the TBM Avenger like the one Ensign Bush flew during World War II, the section of the Berlin Wall and the Gulf War exhibit. The re-design will also feature some state-of-the-art additions. Among some of the exciting and innovative technology being implemented in the museum are handheld audio guides, interactive touch screens and displays that draw the visitor into the mood and feel of the historic eras represented in the museum. The Air Force One office will be replaced by a replica of the White House situation room that includes an interactive presentation on the decisions leading to the first Gulf War. The Bush Museum will also present the only Oval Office exhibit that allows visitors to sit in the “seat of power” and have their photo taken behind the President’s desk. While the Museum’s main exhibit undergoes construction and is unavailable our doors are still open. The world-famous White House in Miniature will be on display to give visitors a special peek into the residence he and Mrs. Bush once called home. The Museum at the George Bush Presidential Library hours are Monday – Saturday, 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 5:00 p.m. Museum admission during the renovation is $5.00 for adults, senior citizens (62+) and active and retired military with ID, as well as groups of 20 or more with advance reservations. Children 6 and older are $2.00; TAMU and Blinn College students as well as children under 6 are free.

Bush Library Issues Forum: Tiffany Mayerhofer
The White House is a topic that intrigues and fascinates most Americans, as well as people around the world. Yet when presenting this iconic presidential symbol and living museum, where does one begin? Tiffany Mayerhofer of the White House Historical Association will present "The White House and its 200+ Years of History" on Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in the Bush Museum Orientation Theater. She will discuss the four major roles of the White House: symbol, home, workplace and museum using stories, photographs, artwork and objects of the famous residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
