The tournament has nothing to do with the end of the in-game season. They're completely separate events. The tournament is simply using the in-game arena standings to determine the top teams, which will then compete with each other and eventually other regions to crown the top 5v5 arena team in the world.
The cut off date where we look at the current standings and pick out the top teams is April 15, this doesn't end the in-game season, it's simply us picking the top teams as of that point to compete elsewhere. The end of the actual in-game season isn't currently set.
Analysis of that malicious software showed that it lay dormant on a victims machine until they ran World of Warcraft (WoW) at which point it captured login data and sent it to the hacking group. The group's enthusiastic use of the cursor flaw suggests it is trying to do the same again.
The PTRs and the availability of premade characters depends heavily on a necessity for them to be used for testing. For a while we were using premades for most PTRs as the character copy functionality was facing technical issues, and while the premades weren't actually necessary for testing they did help us overcome issues related to the character copy system. Since resolving those issues we don't plan to offer premades unless their presence is felt to have a profound impact on the changes being tested. We want players to play characters they're familiar with, to get the most out of their experience and test reports.
If we do offer premades it's because their availability is seen as a positive means to get more players testing specific high level content, but that's not always going to be the case. The PTRs are literally Test Realms, and their purpose does not include trying out new classes, *talent builds, and consequence-free PvP. We intend to keep their purpose focused on testing the content being applied with the patch, and premades will commonly not provide a benefit for that goal.
*Talent builds may need testing with some patches but we of course prefer that players with characters of those classes are the ones testing them, in which case premades would still likely not be offered.
There is a bug where items of very low level with poisons applied to them can be dispelled nearly every attempt, while items of very high level with poisons applied to them are nearly impossible to dispel.
This is slated to be fixed in patch 2.1.0 . The difficulty of dispelling the rogue's poison will be based on the level of the player instead of the level of the weapon the poison is applied to.
With the release of the expansion we raised all realm player caps as the expansion added new land mass. This was really made possible by our server upgrades leading up the expansion allowing us a lot of head room in the way of supporting what we wouldn't have been able to when the game originally launched. With the player cap increases even realms that would be considered high population now generally can still hold a lot more. We also took steps before and after the expansion to successfully disperse population, which additionally helped the higher population realms work down to a more moderate level. So, I wouldn't judge player population by new realms being released or not as we're not in the same situation we were as far as what a single realm is capable of pre-expansion.
Note: any free migration may be changed or closed at any time. Please keep this thread on the topic of the below migrations. Posts concerning other migrations (requests, old migrations, PCT, etc) will not be responded to here. To use the free migration, please follow this link | FAQ
The below migrations will be activated today (Wednesday April 4th). They're scheduled to close at the start of the maintenance on Wednesday April 11th. However, again, please note that this may change at any time. (Edit: to explain; while the main purpose of the migration is to fill up some of the lower populated realms we of course don't want them filled to the point of having queues, hence the possibility of migration being closed prematurely.)
From any of these realms: Crushridge, Outland, Warsong To any of these realms: Agamaggan, Dragonmaw, Spinebreaker, Vek'nilash
The idea of having non-expansion realms has definitely been brought up before, but it's not something we want to pursue currently. We don't want to break up our player base by what they have or have not bought by entire realms. We like having players still able to interact even if they can't visit all of the same places, and we have attempted to encourage it by making sure players have to go back to Azeroth every once in a while.
We're proud to announce that World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is now live in the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Localization into Simplified Chinese is ongoing in preparation for the expansion's launch in mainland China.

All the fuss over PvP is an interesting shift to see take place for longtime WoW players, as it would be hard for anyone to argue that Blizzard has put much more time into developing a rich, deep PvE experience. That's how the game has been supported for so long. That's why people bought the expansion -- new PvE content to tackle. And now, they're getting attention for PvP advancements. Ultimately this puts the onus on Blizzard to perfect PvP imbalances to the same level they've tweaked and refined PvE content to ensure a challenging, yet (mostly) bug-free playing experience.

Lately, Ive been seeing a lot of posts about the same subjects subjects that have been addressed in an upcoming patch so I wanted to let you guys know where things stood.
The Rogue Situation
Weve done a tuning pass of many of our dungeons/bosses/encounters to ensure that nothing overly punishing occurs to melee DPS that would lead people to favor ranged DPS over Rogues/DPS Warriors etc.
Pre-TBC - Instance gear was at the highest lvl 58 (and only a few peices where this high), the lvl 60 gear came out of Zul'Gurrub and from BG's. Raid gear was extremely powerful, the gap between raiders and non-raiders was huge ... did it need to be toned down? Yes
This set up made it worth doing BG's because the items where a very nice upgrade, it also made doing ZG worthwhile because the loot was better than anything in normal instances.
