Mailbag for January 9, 2007
Come one, come all, for there is a new mailbag update.
Twisted
Me and millions of others are dying to know if there are any plans at all to make a Twisted Metal: Black 2 for the PS3 or PS2 or whatever? TMB was without a doubt the best TM in the series. WE WANT A TMB2!
Also a TMB movie would be great, if they did it like a Sin City type way to tell multiple stories of several characters.

Nothing's been announced as of yet, though a next-gen sequel certainly would be awesome. Incog is currently working on Warhawk, but maybe that'll be next in line.

Overflow
I work at Gamestop. In the past two weeks we have seen a steady shipment of PS3's in small quantities. First it was three. Those didn't sell so a few days later it turned into seven. A week and a half later we have over 20 PS3's in our back room that we just can't get rid of. We even changed our phone greeting to let people know about our 12,000 paperweights. No one wants them, and with good reason in my opinion. Just to let you know that the "rumors" flying around the internet are indeed true. Thanks.
-- Reid
$600 for a new gaming machine is a lot to ask, especially when there's only one great exclusive game on the system. Sales will almost certainly pick up in the Spring when more exclusive and promising games start to hit the system.
Or maybe not.

Interact and Stuff
Resistance is an awsome game! My friend and I were reviewing our experience in the co-op part of the game and we both agreed wee would like to see more interaction with the environment in such emersive 3-d environments for example,..
While one of us is holding off an onslought of enemy attackers the other is looking for somithing to break a lock off of a door or us a welder's cutting tool to cutt through a super thick steal bolted door! The situation gets even more intense when the first metal beam I find bends and gives out because the lock is to tough so I have to scatter and find something else that might work! I call this aproach to gaming 'Total Interaction' Please pass this along to others, thank you.
-- Carl
This is the sort of thing that we'll hopefully start seeing in next-gen games rather soon. Resistance was a launch title and as complete of a game as it is, was inherently limited in scope to an extent because of this. Maybe we'll see something along these lines in a sequel.

The Elders
I've been waiting for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for PS3 for so long and I saw that on your website it says it is coming out on Jan. 30, then I went to gamestop.com and it says its coming out on Feb. 27. What is the real date for the games release? Who is right and if their right have you just not updated it yet? Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
-- Ben
The truth is that there really isn't a firm date yet. We have the last "official" date on there, as best as we could find anyway, but your guess as to its real release is probably as good as ours.
I say it'll be February 30th.

Multi-Something
Since the ps3 is going into hibernation mode for the next several months I need a question answered. When downloading things, is it not possible to play a game or watch a blu ray at the same time. It seems kinda lame that we have to stare at the loading screen until its done. With all the power inside you'd think this "computer" could download and function at the same time.
-- Andrew
Very true, and after getting used to being able to do multiple things on the 360, it's somewhat frustrating. Remember though that the 360 didn't have this functionality at the start either, and so far Sony has been pretty good about providing updates for the PS3, so we should see something along to this effect at some point.

CAPSLOCK
MAN I LOVE UR GAMES R U THINKING OF MAKING RE 5?!
-- John
No, but Capcom is.

Spacious
As I consider which console to buy, I'm curious as to how Blu-Ray discs will affect gaming. My understanding is that Microsoft will only be using the standard 8gb discs for games. Do you expect Sony to take advantage of the much larger capacity of the Blu-Ray discs to make bigger and better games, or will they simply use that for movies? You could potentially do great things with that much space for a game. What's your thoughts on this?
-- Mike
Sony and Co. are already using the extra space. Resistance: Fall of Man finished at somewhere around 16GB, for example. The extra space allows for more content, and developers are sure to take advantage of it in one way or another.

3-2-1 Contact
hey, i'm a member of the site and have been for awhile, i really don't trust any other site as far as reviews and suggestions. but with that aside, i have a question. Do you know of a way i can contact EA, specifically about Madden? I've been playing madden for as long as i care to remember, and truly, aside from gaming gems, is the only game i play hardcore. I would very much like to make thoughtful suggestions for this game and can't seem to find the right channels to do so. They make madden for the fans and i just want to see if maybe my suggestions could help for next season, because i think '08 could def. stand to be better than '07, that best looking worst madden game in recent memory. Many thanks in advance for your help and time, keep up the good work.

There are two good ways to get your ideas through to a developer. The best is via some sort of direct email address obviously, but in most cases this is impossible to find (for good reason). The second is to hit up forums and voice your opinion. If you look hard enough, you will usually be able to track down a forum or two that the developers will often read and take feedback from. I'm not sure which forums the folks at Tiburon frequent, but try EA's site and of course, our own boards.

Joy
2007 is starting off rather slowly, but things are sure to pick up soon. Over the next few months we should see some pretty big PS3 releases, with games like MotorStorm, GRAW 2, Def Jam: Icon, Heavenly Sword, Virtua Fighter 5 and much more scheduled to hit before the end of March. Good times are ahead...
