It's a Bird... It's a Plane... No, It's the Auto Assault Patch! - 06/21/2006

Auto AssaultIf you haven't already noticed, the long-awaited Auto Assault update has been made public and is waiting for you to download. It includes a barrage of new features, including respec terminals in town, loot linking so other players can check out your wares, mission sharing between players in your convoy, and ... well, check out the Patch Notes – there's too much to mention here.

Auto Assault is still bringing in reviews praising its unique MMO style, the fun factor, and the "role playing goodness" that GameSide was nice enough to point out. Game Chronicles recommends it for "someone who is looking for a different kind of MMO," and the San Diego Union Tribune praised the casual-friendly play style, and recommended Auto Assault for "RPG fans seeking casual carnage."

We've also launched a Public Test Server (PTS) so inquiring minds can see what we're working on for upcoming builds. If you're interested in participating the next time we need to test content, learn about how to set up your rig to test, and then visit the forums to see what others are saying about the PTS.

Around the World with Auto Assault - 06/05/2006

A while back, the European community coordinators invaded the NetDevil offices and they brought press coverage from around the globe with them. Beginning with Canada, the Vancouver Sun reviewed Auto Assault and gave the game 4 out of 5, saying "The best part of Auto Assault is barrelling into a small town and smashing it to pieces in seconds." Next, we go east to Singapore, where FiRST magazine, the New Press, PC Magazine Singapore and Snag Magazine all reviewed Auto Assault – (thankfully, in English) – and had nothing but good things to say about it. Next, we head west to France, where joystick, the oldest video game magazine on the French market, said "...maîs pour l'instant on s'amuse comme des fous à la rédac avec Auto Assault..." which we're told means "In its current version, Auto Assault is fun!" Over in the UK, Bit-Tech reviewed not only Auto Assault's gameplay, but also how the game works (and looks) with a variety of hardware configurations. We were even reviewed as far away as Africa – iAfrica gave Auto Assault a 7.6, saying "Explosions are awesome to behold."

Back home, PC Gamer gave Auto Assault a 79%, saying "No other MMO has made combat feel so interactive" and 1up responded with a dynamite 8 out of 10 review. Fans agree – the Zero Gravity Clan created an action-packed video showing off their adventures in Ground Zero. Mystaria, a driver profiled in March 2006, found a new way to pass the time on Highway 21 – and to get a 15 ton truck to defy the rules of gravity long enough to become King of the Hill.

NetDevil is still looking to increase our programming staff, and we're currently seeking four developers:

Game Engine Programmer

Physics Programmer
Network Programmer

E3's Exciting Extravaganza - 05/15/2006

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (better known as E3) was held last week – and not only did we have a great time showing off Auto Assault on the show floor, but we also had the opportunity to pitch something a little different. On Monday, Scott Brown participated in a pre-show workshop called "Blueprint for a Killer Title: How the Pros Do It" and presented his ideas for E3: The Game.

After the workshops were over, things really heated up, as the NCsoft booth featured Mutaytor and their brilliant fire performances for the second year running. We also hosted the final round of the E3 elimination tournament, where developers, Quality Assurance, and a lucky team of players all had the chance to vie for domination of the central wastelands. And of course, we talked to the press – MMORPG.com and TenTonHammer are the first to get their reports out on the internet.

It was a busy week for us – NetDevil also signed a license agreement to use the AGEIA PhysX SDK in future game titles. This means the amazing physics in Auto Assault is only the beginning. Speaking of Auto Assault, did you know we're offering a 14-day free trial for anyone interested in playing? Visit PlayNC for more details.

Reviews Rolling In - 05/02/2006

Now that Auto Assault has been in your grubby little hands for almost a month, we're starting to see the reviews pile up. Players keep giving us high marks on MMORPG.com – we're currently at an 8.3! Gamespy said "There's a lot for the MMO gamer looking for a change of pace to sink his teeth into..." and FOXnews gave us 3 out of 4 stars and said "Anyone looking for an online game that's more Mad Max than Gandalf might want to take "Auto Assault" out for a spin."

Players have also taken to marketing Auto Assault. TwistedRadio is hosting an Auto Assault "promotional video" made by a fan known only as "KOMM" that is made to appeal to anyone who is tired of MMOorcs. Another fan, "FireWheel," created a five-plus minute video showing off our destructive nature and the soundtrack was inspired by discussions on the Auto Assault forums. Keep it up – we love what you're doing!

In other news, we're currently looking for several great programmers:

Game Engine Programmer
Deployment Programmer
Physics Programmer
Network Programmer

If you are addicted to video games and want to work at a very unique game development studio, send us your resume for one of the above positions at info@netdevil.com
