Mark Rein Interview At ShackNews
15:07 | by redef
Over at ShackNews you can find the newest interview with the wondrous Mark Rein. There’s plenty of awesome questions with detailed replies so do be sure to check it out. Here’s a clip:
Shack: What are your thoughts on AGEIA's PPU hardware? Any thoughts about how that's going to take off?

Mark Rein: One thing AGEIA's done that's really smart is that--well, if you've seen our PS3 demo, and this is really version .1, really not a finished performance at all, but we've got some really great cool physics things going on PS3. They've done a really good job of optimizing their library to work well with the SPUs in the Cell processor, which means we're going to be able to get a lot of physics performance out of PlayStation 3. Also on Xbox 360 to some extent, but definitely on PS3 we're going to be able to get a lot of physics capabilities out of that. Which means that, to bring [games using those methods] to a PC, you're probably going to need the hardware.

Halo "3" might not be present at E3 2006
15:06 | by Fluffaluffer
Our forum-member Mr Titan made a topic recently about an interview he found with Peter Moore of MS Game Studios. This is a piece of the interview that Mr Titan refers to:
"Halo 3 doesn't exist, we haven't talked about it, and have no intention of talking about it yet. We really want to talk about, certainly at E3, about games that we are really excited about, Gears of War, Crackdown, Too Human, Mass Effect, all of which you will be seeing in some form or another at E3...And then maybe sometime later this year we'll give you a glimpse of what Bungie is up to.
You can read more about the interview and comment on this in this forum-topic.

Developer Interview: Quake 4 1.1 Patch & More
14:58 | by Jube
Here at Planet Quake we talk to Lead Designer and Co-Owner of id Software Tim Willits, Quake 4 Lead Programmer from Raven Software Rick Johnson, and David Dynerman Quake 4 Multiplayer Programmer from Raven Software to score some developer insight on the newest Quake 4 Point Release, and what is yet to come. Topics of discussion include voice chat, improved server stability, forced models, mission packs plus more. Here's a tasty teaser:

Is it planned for this patch to be the final game patch?

Willits: No. We have another one planned but the next update will be focused on adding more new content - we'll have more information available in the coming weeks, but it's a pretty large, professionally made update that we're once again giving to all of the players for free! We are having a lot of fun testing it here and we hope everyone else enjoys it too when it comes out.
Also included with the interview are screenshots from the new maps to be included with Quake 4 1.1. Read the full interview here!
