New Video Added - Pooy Jump

I'm just making a brief post to tell you all that I've uploaded some footage of myself playing "Pooy Jump", the PocketStation mini-game that can be accessed from the title screen in the Japanese PlayStation version of Grandia. The video can be found here. I added some music to it, since the actual game is silent - I hope nobody minds. In the game, you just have to press one button to make Puffy/Pooy jump (he can only fly for a very short distance), and pray that you don't smack into the side of a building, because they push the lovable puff ball off the side of the screen, which spells Game Over.

Yes, I know I'm not very good at the game, but believe me when I say it's HARD!!

Grandia Online - "Within Year"
Sep 28 2006, 02:05 PM

Dear VLoG Reader,

What's with all the daddy long-legs we've been getting this year? I've never seen so many in my entire life! Those irritating little things, along with the cold weather that's been hurting my back, are tempting me to stay inside playing video games and chatting to girls online all day. Alas, if the game doesn't have enough depth to sink your teeth into, it does become boring pretty darn quickly; and the girls seem to be scared of me for some reason. Guess I need to work on my social skills. What I need, is a good old-fashioned MMORPG. Which reminds me...

Teasing us with a fairly unimpressive picture containing some outdated-looking 3D models of Grandia Online characters, our friends at Gung-Ho have announced that the Grandia Online service will begin "inside year". I hope for their sake that they mean "before the end of 2006" and not "September 2007", because these delays are becoming rather tedious.

Maybe it's time to take up cycling? You just KNOW I'd look sexy in those tight shorts.

Hugs and Kisses,

Grandia Online - Imminent News, Or Time to Start Worrying?
Aug 25 2006, 07:43 PM

Well, September is just one week away, and while we're still told that the Japanese beta of Grandia Online will launch next month, there hasn't been a screenshot or gameplay clip in sight since the recording of the opening FMV a whole year ago. It's very strange for a high-profile game to get THIS close to the alleged release without some form of media hype to back it - unless, of course, there are development issues or (brace yourselves) the game has been canned altogether.

"...But surely," I hear you cry, "a game to integral to Gung-Ho's future plans wouldn't have been cancelled!" Unfortunately, at this stage, it's not looking too good. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game WON'T come out, but considering it's already been delayed for a whole year, now that the target date is approaching and Game Arts/Gung-Ho are still reluctant to issue even the smallest hint of gameplay footage, I personally am not too hopeful. Who knows, maybe 2007 will be our lucky year?

Having said that, I did notice earlier that the Korean message board at http://grandiaonline.com is back in action, after a mysterious "Comming Soon" (sic) message that's been there for the last couple of months. The question is whether or not that's an official site - it definitely doesn't seem to be, but again, I can't rule out the possibility. http://grandiaonline.co.kr certainly exists, but that URL just directs you to a page which essentially tells you that while the domain exists, a website does not. So what's the hold-up, Gung-Ho?

Broccoli Co. Ltd (the name of the group encompassing Gravity, Gung-Ho, Game Arts and related subsidiaries) ARE scheduled to make an appearance at Tokyo Game Show, which this year takes place during the period 22-24 September, so hopefully we'll have something to show at the end of next month. Here's hoping it's about more than just Ragnarok Online 2...

Some Residual Problems

(Update - Lord Galcian II): The regular version appears to be working right now, so keep trying it -- if you're still having issues, there is the Lo-Fi version, but it appears things are working correctly! :D

Seems like I'm not the only person that's having some difficulty in accessing the forums lately, so I just thought I'd post this temporary fix. If the links to the forums aren't working for you (and you'll know that's the case if you're just getting a blank page when you click the links), try the Lo-Fi version instead. It's nowhere near as pretty, but hey, it's better than nothing.
