Far Cry Vengeance Preview Posted 22:45 PST | Nate | Print News | Mail News IGN Wii has posted a hands-on preview with the newest entry in the Far Cry franchise, Far Cry Vengeance. The IGN Wii staff was invited to Ubisoft's San Francisco studio to give the game a test drive before it launches on December 5. Apparently the game fares a bit better than I had expected on the console. I figured Vengeance to be a filler title, something that wouldn't compare to the rest of the Far Cry games, but perhaps I was mistaken, maybe hell has indeed frozen over.
Or you can simply click here for all the new videos included in the preview.

Far Cry Vengeance Trailer Released! 11:21 PST | Nate | Print News | Mail News Ubisoft just recently released the first ever gameplay footage of Far Cry Vengeance for the forthcoming Nintendo Wii. The footage is enclosed in a classic Far Cry trailer with the signature ending that has become a trademark for the series.
Of significant note is the semi-tutorial of how to play the game offered within the trailer. Since the Wii has a unique controller design, the trailer is kind enough to feature many of the game's standard actions (i.e. firing, tossing a grenade, and using feral abilities) in both video and physical form. Players shouldn't have much trouble controlling Carver around the perils of yet another tropical paradise after checking out this trailer.

First Four Vengeance Screens 18:48 PST | Nate | Print News | Mail News We've got our grubby, little, Nintendo-loving hands on the first four screens of the newly announced Far Cry Vengeance for their new Wii console. The game is scheduled to ship side-by-side with the system on November 19.
Far Cry Vengeance Screens
Worst. News. Ever. 18:16 PST | Nate | Print News | Mail News Okay, so maybe we're being a little over dramatic. I suppose the worst news ever (at least for a Far Cry website) would be that our beloved video game series has been cancelled and all copies were to be summarily burned. That didn't happen, so no need to worry.
However, what actually did happen - and the reason for this news post - is that Uwe Boll recently confirmed that he indeed will be helming the movie version of the Far Cry series, and he'll begin ruining our beloved lineage in May 2007 (when the movie begins production). As reported by IGN Filmforce, the movie is expected to follow the first game's plot line which saw a man captured in a cargo ship only to be free under mysterious circumstances.
As if the news of Uwe sitting in the Director's Chair wasn't bad enough, it appears that the writers of the horribly, awful Alone in the Dark movie adaptation will be charged with penning the screenplay for Far Cry.
Our only consolation? The knowledge that it could have been good.

Predator Patch Unleashed! 15:14 PST | Nate | Print News | Mail News Ubisoft recently released the news that they've been hard at work on a patch for Far Cry Instincts Predator for some time now. Here's what Ubisoft had to say about the patch, as well as a list of the fixes that it addresses.
Updates are a complicated business. The issues that sometimes occur when games are released for online play can be complex to reproduce and solve. Then the testing and approval process needs to begin, and changes may have to be made. No one wants to release an update that doesn't solve all of the issues players are having - and, with this in mind, the wait for a Far Cry Instincts Predator update has been longer than usual. But the process is now complete, and the update has been unleashed to the masses!
1. Controls will be more responsive than before (in all game modes)
2. Faster and smoother thumb stick response (in network games)
3. Reduced the analog thumb stick dead zone from 35% to 24%
4. Fixed Rich Presence (Xbox Live status)
5. Support for more than 64 save games (including user maps) the limit is now as many saves as will fit on your storage device
6. Fixed voice chat lag with high number of players
7. Can change game type in game lobby
8. Fixed occasional issue where no weapon appears in hand
9. Fixed occasional issue where players are disconnected from lobby and game session
10. Fixed occasional problems when joining from friends list
Remember, to receive the update you'll have to be signed on to Xbox Live. Then just pop in your game disc and you'll download it immediately.
