Sticky: The Curb-Stomp #1: Sonic the Hedgehog 8:01 PST | RaptoR | Print News | Mail News In the first of a series of curb-stompings, Myrmidion has the very dubious honor of taking a look at the new Sonic the Hedgehog game, which first "graced" the Xbox 360 a couple of weeks ago.
Like me, Im fairly certain that most of you had Sonic the Hedgehog to entertain you during your youth, and I hope that those distant memories of holding down right and trying to avoid falling off the level are still keeping you warm, because theyre not about to get any closer. Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 takes the worst bits of 3D platformers and combines it with a plot that would make Square Enix hold of their hands and plead not guilty. You want to know what it is?
Head over here to find out, or skip to the end and see the curb-stomping!
Sticky: New Poll: Favorite Multiplayer Map 8:01 PST | RaptoR | Print News | Mail News This week's poll lets you choose your favorite Geas of War multiplayer map. Head over to the right sidebar and tell us if you're a Mansion man or a Gridlock girl.
Last week's poll saw the Cole Train making a runaway victory. Thanks to everyone that voted!
The controller features a thumbstick on the front and the other on the back, positioned on an extension and able to be used on your leg or against a table. All of the buttons are on the underside as well, able to be manipulated by your fingers. Overall, it's a pretty brilliant design. While there are no plans for this design to hit stores at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if some company picked the design up.
Chainsaw Yourself! 7:54 PST | RaptoR | Print News | Mail News From the depths of YouTube comes a video of how to chainsaw yourself in Gears of War. Not the most useful ability in the world, but there you go. Thanks AndyB.
You are an idiot if 0:16 PST | RaptoR | Print News | Mail News ... you kick me off your Xbox Live ranked server because I chainsawed you in the back when you were picking up your favorite weapon.
IGN Music: What drew you to the project? You know, what was special about this project as opposed to some others you have worked on in the past?
Kevin Riepl: While I was working on Unreal Championship2, I was hearing a lot of talk about this game they were creating with the new unbelievable Unreal3 game engine. I saw all the images everyone else did when they were showing off the new engine, and I thought to myself, I want to be part of that and create the music for what ever takes place in that world they were creating. Something that was a bit different about this project from others, was that Epic, who is widely known for their Unreal series, was creating something brand spankin' new. Being a composer, how could you not want to be a part of something like that.
Gears VGA Aspect Ratio Bug Fixed, Possible Patch by Year's End 21:52 PST | redef | Print News | Mail News Mark Rein has provided some updated info concerning a future Gears update. According to his forum post a fix for the aspect ratio squishing under VGA cables issue has been found, and this update (along with others) may be released before the end of December. Heres part of Marks post:
Good news folks. We think we've fixed the VGA aspect ratio issue. This still has to go through testing and then certification but provided we didn't mess anything else up by making this fix it should be in the next update. I can't predict when this update will be released because we're still working on a few other things for the update and, as I said earlier, it needs to go through the cert process. As soon as we have a good idea when that will be, and what ended up making it into this update, we'll publish some information about it on this forum. We hope this will be before the end of the year but we can't know for sure because at some point Microsoft Certification will close down for the holidays.
I would also like to apologize to our VGA cable non-widescreen users that we didn't catch this before the game came out. We used VGA cables quite extensively to drive HD resolution LCD monitors but the monitors we used in-house were widescreen models which, as you probably already know, were not affected by this.
We've added a non-widescreen monitor to our in-house test lab and we'll be sure to test all future Xbox360 releases on that monitor.
Update by RaptoR @ 23:36 PST: Hallelujah! If they can get this fix and the multiplayer connection bug fix out the door before the holidays, it'll be a Merry Christmas for Gears fans!
In my shcool i am studying ancient gods. Sera backwards is Ares, the god of war. Ares represents the planets Mars. See where im going? so do you think that humans had to move to Mars and for some reason now it is called Sera after the god of war?
Also, gears of war, god of war, see the connection?
