  Latest Test Center Notes
Print News | Mail News | Category: Developer Comments
SOE has released a hotfix for anyone using the test center. This fix includes professions, Civil War updates and user interface patches. We've got the full notes below:

Combat

Heavy Weapons: The Devastator Acid Launcher was showing an incorrect range of 35 meters prior to being equipped. After being equipped, it showed the correct range of 64 meters.

Heavy Weapons: The maximum range of flame throwers was set independent of weapon range. This has been fixed so that it now uses the weapon's range, instead.

G15 Keyboard Support

Timestamps are now parsed out of the chat log on the G15 LCD

Galactic Civil War

Beam weapons won't cause a client crash on antenna destruction in Restuss

Profession: Officer

Expertise: Cool-downs for Mark 1 Artillery Strike and Shock Grenade have been modified to be consistent with the Mark 2 and Mark 3 versions.

Expertise: Focus Fire and Tactics will now longer take action or activate cool-down if you attempt to apply a lower version while a higher version is active on yourself.

Profession: Smuggler

Expertise: Fixed Double Deal to find a second target.

Expertise: Fixed Off The Cuff to double the critical damage of Double Deal.

Expertise: Inside Information no longer requires Innocent Cargo for purchasing in the Smuggler expertise tree.
Expertise: Fan Shot was using weapon range for damage, but its cone of effect was using a static value instead of the weapon range. Increased the range to use 40m on the highest level attack.
Expertise: Police crackdown scans will no longer happen when a character is in a state of cover.

User Interface

Expertise: Added backgrounds to the Smuggler and Officer profession expertise windows.

How long have you played Star Wars Galaxies? I have played since the game launched.

What other MMOs have you played? Star Wars Galaxies was my first MMO. I have since tried World of Warcraft, EVE, City of Heroes, and Guild Wars, but nothing holds my attention like Star Wars Galaxies does.

Chapter 4 Peak: Holopets
Print News | Mail News | Category: Community
Aside from adding several new expertise systems to the game Chapter 4 will also bring Holopets in to the game world. SOE has posted a small feature on the main SWG website promoting this addition and we've copited some of it's informatiom below. Reas the full article here.

Chapter 4 brings Commando, Medic, and Spy expertise to the galaxy, but that's not all. Holo-pets are on their way, too!

Players who log in any time between the Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 updates will receive one holo-emitter and one randomly selected holo-pet data cube as chapter gifts. Keep reading to see how these items make your holo-pet!

What are Holo-pets?

Holopets are in-game holograms that will walk around in any room inside your house. All you have to do is place the holo-emitter in your house and put in the holopet data cube.

Stratics Chat Log For November 15th
Print News | Mail News | Category: Community
Stratics has released their cat log from their Wednesday chat. We've copied some of the more juicier details in regards to Beast Mastery and the Medical Expertise.
You can read the full log here.

Helios: The Beast Master concept is just that - only a concept. We're considering lots of things, including what kind of creatures to include. The concept is still at too high of a level to discuss details of that level. That being said, I would suspect a vast array of creatures to make the cut.

Rogue_5: We don't have a definitive date for the release of Chapter 4. We just released the Chapter on our Test Center and want to evaluate the feedback that we are getting on it to see what kind of changes need to be made. I encourage everyone to login to Test Center and try out the new features. We want to get as much feedback on the Chapter as possible.

Tunso: When planning the medic expertise I took into consideration a lot of the feedback the medic community had given during the course of our implementing the various class expertise. Medics have the opportunity to gain a LOT of new abilities. About 1/2 their trees are new abilities actually =-)
Broadly medics gain about six new buffs, two new heals, new ways to remove harmful effects from themselves and allies as well as remove beneficial effects from enemies. They gain a couple of weapon specialization lines with some new combat attacks. And a bunch of debuffs. Lots of new stuff.

Event Support December Holiday Schedule !  [ Comment ]
Print News | Mail News | Category: News
Event Support Calendar for December has been posted, click here for the calendar.
I have uploaded the latest Event Support Calendar for December and the tentative dates for January. Please, please, PLEASE check this calendar before requesting support. I still get many requests for support on a date when it isn't available.

I've also updated the Event Support Request Deadlines page. Please, please, PLEASE check this page to determine when to submit your request for support. This page will be very important for players submitting requests in January. Anytime we come back from hiatus there is a compressed submission/approval process and that page will tell you when you can submit your request.

There are a lot of blackout and decoration-only dates coming up in December and January due to the holidays, so plan accordingly.

I've posted a tenative schedule for January, but this may change. No one should be submitting requests for January events until January 2nd, so it shouldn't be a big issue. I'll have the January dates confirmed by mid-December and post additional information at that time.

Episode 62 has been released. for Episode 62.
What is this? It's a podcast focused on Star Wars Galaxies and all things Star Wars. We talk about how Star Wars and SWG pop up in our daily lives, what we've been doing in the game, and discuss the state of the game. We are not associated with LA or SOE in any way. We're just a couple of players, like the rest of you, who enjoy Star Wars.

Episode LXII
"In the Garden of IKEA,
the Beast Master waits"

You've been waiting so patiently and now you shall be rewarded! This week we touch the usual random subjects… Swedish meatballs at IKEA, the Books of Yivviticus and Bubbleations, kitty lawyer, Pledge. Oh, I almost forgot… we also talk about Star Wars and Star Wars Galaxies! We get an update from last week's caller who was wondering if he should try SWG. We also delve into the "in concept" posts Helios made in the official forums. Like the apprehensive deer who has been spooked away many times before, we cautiously approach the new ideas and find ourselves rather excited about them!
