Sticky: Tenative Patch 1.13 Release Notes 19:01 PST | Pyros | Print News | Mail News Relic's Buggo was kind enough to drop by our forums and give us a look at the tenative patch notes for the upcoming retail patch 1.13. While it is only tenative, and is subject to change, it gives us some insight as to what we can expect to see, including the Worldbuilder, MovieMaker, replay controls, a new map, and multiple fixes. To view the entire change log, hit the "Read More..." link right beneath this post!
Update: You can read about CoH's producers response to the discussion about the patch right here. In addition, Buggo also makes some mention of the disconnect/pull fix!
Update 2: The patch notes have been re-organized and updated by Relic. The new list can be seen by clicking "Read the Rest..." below!
So, learn all the best exploits, and battle the other exploiting 1v1 stat whores for the chance to win an awesome prize! (Just kidding, I love you all. Well, not all.)
Raphael van Lierop on patch 1.3 13:55 PST | Pyros | Print News | Mail News Over at Relic News, Relic's Raphael van Lierop, CoH's producer, drops by to say a few things about fan response to patch 1.3. Here's a brief snippet of what he had to say:
For Patch 1.3, we wanted to try something a bit different. Allie was really keen to keep you guys in the loop regarding what we were going to change in the patch, because she knows how much you guys want to know what is up and coming. And that's awesome -- we want you guys to know too! But, patching is this really complicated process that can blow up in your face if you rush it, so we tend to want to stay quiet until THQ QA has helped us confirm that everything we think we've fixed is actually fixed, and that it's been fixed in all the various languages and countries we shipped CoH out to, and that we didn't break a bunch of stuff in the process of fixing a bunch of stuff.
To read the rest of his post, hit "Read the Rest..." beneath this post!
And some even better news; Buggo has confirmed that the disconnect/pull bug is still being fixed. Since it's a server-side issue, it's being done by another team. So hopefully we'll see that fix soon!
You can view Raphael van Lierop's full post right here.
GamesFirst! reviews Company of Heroes 11:12 PST | Pyros | Print News | Mail News Looks like we've still got a few more reviews coming in! Today, GamesFirst! offers their review of Company of Heroes, awarding it a score of 5/5! They praise much of the game, even saying that it very well may be the "greatest real-time strategy game ever". Here's a brief snippet from their review:
First of all, the tutorial is a truly beautiful thing. You could have never touched an RTS before in your life and you'll have no problem getting into this game. And it's fun. I can't remember a tutorial I loved more than that of Company of Heroes. Nothing says kicking butt like winning a tutorial, either. It makes you feel like you're doing really well and doing it admirably.
Definitely check out the full review, it's got some interesting points.
We're going to be seeing more Company of Heroes eventually! 9:27 PST | Pyros | Print News | Mail News I think we all knew we'd see another Company of Heroes game eventually, but I think this is the closest thing to an official confirmation we're going to get for a while. In a recent press release about THQ's stellar Q2 sales (Company of Heroes is partially to thank for this one!), you can find this quote from THQ's president and CEO, Brian Farrell:
"During the quarter, THQ's Studio System delivered two ground-breaking original titles, Saints Row on Xbox 360 and Company of Heroes on PC. We have established two significant new franchises that we view as important pillars of our growth for many years to come."
It certainly looks like we'll be seeing Company of Heroes as a powerful franchise for quite a while, which is good news for everyone!
This replay, submitted by TURBOHIPPO, is entitled "2 on 1". What starts off as a 2 vs 2 on Mcgechaen's War quickly becomes as 2 vs 1 game as TURBOHIPPO's partner drops, and he handles the challenge of being outnumbered. Be sure to check it out!

CoH Patch delayed 12:06 PST | Pyros | Print News | Mail News Some bad news, and some good news. The bad news is that according to Relic's Buggo, we won't be seeing the patch today. Here's what she had to say:
I talked to the Producer today and it looks like there are still some problems with the localized versions and the launcher for parts of the mod tools... QA is still working on it.
I'm sorry that we will miss the deadline by a couple days. :(
The good news? It's confirmation that we'll be seeing the mod tools with the patch. I think it's worth waiting for a few extra days for all of those fixes, especially considering all the new community-made content that will pop up as a result of the tools included!

New Poll - Would you/have you played in a Company of Heroes tournament/league? 13:23 PST | Pyros | Print News | Mail News This week's question is quick and simple: Would you/have you played in a Company of Heroes tournament/league? With tournaments coming from sites such as CAL, GameSpot, and ever ourselves, I'm curious to see just how many people actually participate in these events. Be sure to vote on the right! And if you'd like to go into more depth about why you do/don't play in tournaments, head over to our forums to voice your mind.
The responses to last week's question of "What's the more fearsome opponent on the battlefield?" were as follows:
No suprise, Two Tigers came out on top. A bit suprising that more people fear the comedy option of "JEEP RUSH" than two Pershings. Guess people just don't view them as a credible threat!
As always, you can view the results of previous polls right here.
This episode we'll start off with the weekly CoH news update, followed by This Week in History and finally another Bridger Rant discussing the absurd ability to delete your own defenses. After the news we'll be checking out the different defenses available to each side and discussing how to use them, where to use them, and whether anything needs to be changed about them.
Then in the third segment of the show we'll take a look at the Mortar in our Unit of the Week section. How do the allied and axis mortars differ? Why are they rarely used? Can they be changed to fit in the game better? We'll discuss all this and more in the last segment of our show.
And stay tuned after the show for another excellent Video Replay Review. This time we have a great 2v2 game on Mcgechean's War. This replay is our very own Vitensby and Souljah vs. two level 8 Allied Players, Nide and NightBlue. Be sure to check it out!
Show is Uploaded: audio. and video.
You can view the streaming show right here by clicking Tales of Heroes on the right.
OnDemand link for the match will be up in the morning.
Be sure to check out his great show!
You can read his post right here. If you liked his show, be sure to drop by and comment!
Just an update to let you know we're still on schedule for when we said we would have the patch out for..
I'm looking to see if I can get a changelog out.
Thanks for your patience guys :)
For those who can't remember, her original schedule was 2-3 weeks, which she said on October 10th. So that means we're pretty close to seeing that patch! If you've forgotten what is going to be a part of the next patch, you can read our previous posts about it right here!
