BFME2 Selling in the US Top 20 Print News | Mail News | Category: B4ME2 - Community EA's Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth 2 has found itself still selling in the top 20 games for the last 6 months. The average amount of games needed to be sold to be listed in this list is just below 3,000 games per week. By doing basic math, if EA sold 3,000 per week for the last 6 months that is 72,000 copies of the game sold in the US. But realistically I am sure EA sold more than 3,000 games per week in the first few months here in the US. So for the US to say EA sold 200,000+ copies would be a good assumption along with saying globally EA is probably peaking 500,000+ copies sold.
1) Company Of Heroes (DVD) - THQ
2) Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy - LucasArts
3) World Of Warcraft - Vivendi
4) Company Of Heroes Collector's Edition - THQ

6) The Sims 2 - Electronic Arts
7) Company Of Heroes (CD) - THQ
8) Civilization IV - 2K Games
9) Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - 2K Games
10) Age Of Empires III - Microsoft
11) Warcraft III Battle Chest - Vivendi
12) Guild Wars Factions - NCsoft
13) Battlefield 2 Deluxe - Electronic Arts
14) Madden NFL 2007 - Electronic Arts
15) The Sims 2 Open For Business Expansion Pack - Electronic Arts
16) Star Wars: Empire At War - LucasArts
17) Civilization IV: Warlord Expansion Pack - 2K Games
18) Heroes Of Might & Magic V - Ubisoft
19) Lord of the Rings: Battle For Middle Earth II - Electronic Arts 20) Guild Wars - NCsoft
Now Relics/ THQ's Company of Heroes is sporting over 11,600 copies sold in the week listed above, and that was only with a US release. Now doing a bit more math, if EA did sell 500,000 copies of BFME2 at a rough cost of $50.00 per game EA has dragged in roughly $25 million dollars, which is a great indicator why we are seeing an expansion on the horizon.

BFME2 Patch 1.06 Print News | Mail News | Category: B4ME2 - Community EA Predator has updated us once again about the current online Lag within BFME2 and the news that Patch 1.06 will be rolling out next week.
Patch 1.06 is looking to deploy early next week and will fix the lobby lag you have been experiencing. We apologize for this. The error is related to the online development building of The Rise of the Witch-king, there was a code error that could not have been detected until patch 1.05 went live and was under heavy traffic. To put it simply, this error could not be found without the patch being live. We have fixed it this week and should be deploying this patch next week.
It is good to see EA is on the ball in fixing this issue, now lets see if they keep fixing the other issues...

Chistopher Tolkien Finishes "The children of Hurin" Print News | Mail News | Category: LOTR - Community Community member Mordor Slayer has found a bit of good news in the Tolkien world, an unfinished story of the famous writer JRR Tolkien has been finished by his son, 33 years after his death. The book - The children of Hurin - is set in Tolkien's known and loved fantasy world and will be in stores next year.
Chistopher Tolkien needed almost 30 years to complete the manuscript of his father. The story featuring elves and dwarves, takes place during the First Age, and you don't have to read his other books to understand it
The question is, has Chistopher Tolkien butchered his fathers work? or will the book follow the same style JRR Tolkien brought to us? tell us what you think here.
MEV Site Director Blog: BFME2 Patch 1.05 Print News | Mail News | Category: B4ME2 - BFME2 Exp. Obviously this weeks big news is all about patch 1.05 for BFME2. For the most part the new patch didnt just adjust a few things; it created an entire new game. Now I am a person who judges games on how I get them on release out of box. Sure there is always a fix here and there and yes there are always instances of OP factions, but the key impression is how the game plays when you first install it. So this weeks Blog topic will direct itself towards EAs BFME2 Patch 1.05.
BFME2 Online Lobby Lag Print News | Mail News | Category: B4ME2 - B4ME - Community EA Predator has posted over on EA's official forums about the ongoing lag in the online servers. The good thing is the issue is well on its way to being fixed, the bad news is, it isn't fixed yet. Here is what EA Predator had to say.
Hey guys,
Update here, so it appears that we have nailed down the issue causing the lobby lag and it may have to do with a back-end signature requirement related to on-going development of our Expansion Pack. Much like Zero Hour, BFME 2 and the Expansion Pack share similar online infrastructure of course.
This is clearly an unintended error and we're looking on to the best possible fix-it option, which MAY require a quick patch.
I'll keep you posted, but just know that we are intensely working on a fix.
So quick patch or not, I think we can all agree that we just want the issue resolved.

BFME2 1.05 Poll Print News | Mail News | Category: B4ME2 This weeks poll targets EA's new patch for BFME2 "What are your feelings on Patch 1.05?" Make sure to vote on the right under the tall ad. As for last week, the results are:
What price will you pay for BFME2: ROTWK?
$50.00+ - 76 votes
$40.00 ~ $49.99 - 64 votes
$30.00 ~ $39.99 - 141 votes
$20.00 ~ $29.99 - 290 votes
$19.99 - 229 votes
Not buying it! - 78 votes
Total Votes: 878
I was actually surprised to see that over 250 users would pay over $39.99. I myself chose the $29.99 bracket as I feel any expansion should never be priced over that. But from the looks of it we will see it retail for about $27.99 - $29.99 in the US.
