On the 30th of May 2006 we will be conducting a character clean up on all dimensions
Any character below level 5 that hasnt been logged in for 90 days will be deleted during downtime on that day.
If you wish to keep any characters below level 5 please ensure they have been logged in actively on the live servers before this date. PLEASE NOTE: Those who run 'chatbot' characters will have to log the character into the actual game, having them connected to the chat servers will not avoid this wipe.
We will be bringing the live servers down on Monday (May 15th), for a short update patch to apply some tweaks to the new Alien Playfield. The downtime will begin 7am EST/12pm GMT and is estimated at 3 hours.
We will most likely run another test event to run the rule over the changes before opening it up fully, so keep your eyes out for further details.

Winds of change blow through Tir:
Tir City (IRRK Freelance) - Tir is the first city built by the clans, the home of the Council of Truth, the Clan Arena, and two of the finest bars Rubi-Ka has to offer. Despite all this, however, it has for some time now been only a ghost town with the only visitors being people wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of the busier cities. The Urban Defense Patrol, a group controlled by Simon Silverstone of the Sentinels, ensures that hostilities remain outside of the city.
Downtown Tir, once a place of free trade and a good place to meet new people, has dwindled in its popularity so much that on any given day the shop keepers and guards outnumber the potential costumers. For a few among the clans, this is not seen as a bad thing, with the lack of commotion being a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of Old Athens. Bresia of Guardian Nemesis says that she kind of likes the peace and quiet that Tir offers.
Dont think that Tir has completely turned into a retirement community for old clan members, though. Like any town that has become a ghost town it does attract its fair share of odd stories that are very hard to confirm or refute. The few people who were around for an interview hinted that Tir is often a city for small groups of people to get up to all sorts of shenanigans, as one Kinsey put it. It was commented that because nobody is ever there, it means that there is nobody ever around to notice what kind of games go on late at night.
There will always be kids running through graveyards daring their friends to stand on the grave of that old witch, and couples using them for secret trysts, with Tir becoming that graveyard. However, most who come to the City of the Clans enjoy the quiet solitude from the war, and for the most part safety from Omni interference.
OTPC - Several prospective Omni-Med employees received quite the shock and honor today in Rome. While attending a routine training seminar, the students were graced by the presence of a special guest: Doctor James Tooran!
Doctor Tooran, who arrived on April 6th, is on Rubi-Ka to assist with training of Omni-Med personnel, whether the topic be new medical practices, the latest technology in the medical industry, or even using medical examination skills to assist in Omni-Pol investigations.
"It was amazing," said Jennifer Healen, age 16. "We've read so much about Doctor Tooran, but to finally get to meet him was just... wow. He is so nice and was very informative."
Doctor Tooran spoke with the students primarily about the importance of hard work and dedication to their field. Tooran summed up his lecture to the students with, "You must always remember what sets you apart from those who do not work for Omni-Tek. Take for example the Clans here on Rubi-Ka. They are lazy and generally uneducated. They have no commitment. They are impulsive. All of you, on the other hand... all of you are the brightest and most promising people that this planet has ever seen.
"People look up to you. They will look to you for your guidance and for your help. It is your responsibility to give them just that."
After the lecture, Doctor Tooran took the time to meet individually with the students before returning to duties in Omni-HQ.
OTPC - Last night a medical storage facility in Rome Green was broken into and many hundred thousand credits worth of materials were stolen. When arriving on the scene, Omni-Pol officers found that the door's locking mechanisms were tampered with by some unknown means.
"I can't believe this happened," said one of the officers. "This facility had a top-of-the-line security system."
When asked about the facility, a member of Omni-Med replied, "This was one of our more secretive facilities. No one should have known about it. Whoever did this must have had some rather in-depth information about our operations."
Those who witnessed the robbery declined to be interviewed, but several comments were heard from the crowd once our reporters arrived. From what was heard and seen, the individuals who committed the robbery were a large group of Atroxes. All seemed to be wearing mismatched armor, and they didn't seem to have a brain among them. When confronted by several brave citizens, the Atrox seemed to disregard the orders to surrender and responded by telling off those who tried to get in their way, before continuing to flee the scene.
If anyone has any further information about this incident, please contact Omni-Pol immedately.
The work on the upcoming expansion is picking up pace now as the final art assests start to be completed by the artists. Over the next few weeks we will start to reveal some great new visuals from Lost Eden so you can finally see new technology and toys that you will get to play with when the expansion launches.
The artists though weren't quite ready this week to let us to capture some screens, as they wanted to get the final tweaking and polishing applied to the textures and models that they have been busily creating for the last few months! Not to be thwarted though in our quest to get you some sneak peeks at the new stuff, we managed to peer over their shoulders for long enough with a camera to get some work in progress images of the devs at work putting the new visuals together! (It's always worth it just to see how nervous devs get when we go hovering around their offices with a camera in hand - they are a very camera shy bunch!)
Tarkhan Zora declares war on the Dust Brigade OTPC - Yesterday's act of sheer cowardice on the part of former Commander Curtis Maelfus of Omni-Pol has roused the Omni-Tek war machine from its slumber, like a greedy plunderer threatening the precious horde of a mighty dragon. Our CEO yesterday announced that "Omni-Tek will completely and forever wipe out the Dust Brigade," and it appears that no resources will be spared in doing so.
Already, sources are reporting attacks on installations in the outzones that were once thought to be abandoned centers of communication, but are now known Dust Brigade safe houses. Nobody knows where the the sudden influx of intelligence is coming from, but one high-ranking Omni-AF commander gave us the following details on the condition that he remain anonymous.
"Our men in the field have come through on extremely short notice. Their skill and speed in delivery of all information gathered on the Dust Brigade has enabled us to launch tactical air strikes on bunkers, underground complexes and decommissioned communications installations in the outzones and, in some cases, on terraformed soil on Rubi-Ka. Enemy casualties thus far may be as many as two thousand troopers, including several high-ranking leadership individuals."
The commander refused to provide any further information, saying that the strikes were still ongoing and making any more information public could compromise agents in the field as well as strikes that have yet to occur. Reports of Dust Brigade activity in settlements around Rubi-Ka have been sporadic, but some have reported spotting small teams of two or three masked commandos operating in the vicinity of a few large cities such as Rome, Old Athen, Borealis and Tir.
Employees of Omni-Tek and people all around Rubi-Ka are urged to be on the look-out for Dust Brigade activity, and are asked to report any sightings directly to Unicorn Company or Omni-AF personnel immediately.
Omni-Pol institutes new enforcement initiatives:
OTPC - In wake of a recent surge in criminal behavior and deviance in Omni-Tek cities, as well as increased disobedience to authorities, Omni-Pol has announced new initiatives to keep peace and order strong in our great cities.
"Dissent is not to be tolerated," Omni-Pol Director Ivan Sergeyich simply said. "It is unacceptable. Omni-Tek employees and visitors alike are expected to abide by corporate law and policies at all times."
Director Sergeyich took the time to speak with the OTPC at his office in Omni-HQ. Concerned about the recent rise in problems throughout Omni-Tek cities, he and his command staff decided to implement new initiatives including a revised use-of-force policy in order to curb deviant behavior.
Director Sergeyich explained, "The objective is quite simple: maintaining order. Omni-Pol has been allowed to become more lax in its methods of handling problems. These methods have been revised to allow officers use of a wider array of problem solving techniques.
"Needless to say, individuals refusing to comply with Omni-Pol authority will find the response most unpleasant."
In the past several months, Omni-Pol has seen rebellious and deviant behavior rise significantly. The instances where employees talk back to, threaten, and taunt Omni-Pol officers has become far too common, and as far as Sergeyich is concerned, has crossed the line.
"We have been most agreeable in dealing with these matters," Sergeyich said. "We have allowed some things to go unaddressed. This is not the case anymore. Clearly it is necessary for us to become much more critical and hands-on in our dealings with Rubi-Ka."
As part of this new initiative, Omni-Pol's new use of force policy allows officers to freely use force to regain control of situations when it "is deemed as the most viable option" and "needed to suppress or control individuals not responding to warnings, instructions, and conventional methods of direction."
The new initiatives set forth by Omni-Pol, including the revised use of force policies, went into effect today at midnight.
This address comes just a month shy of the one-year anniversary of the shooting of Philip Ross, but Tarkhan Zora has opted to forego the added security measures suggested by Omni-Pol's newly-appointed chief of event security, Curtis Maelfus. In addition, CEO Zora has bravely decided to hold this address in the exact same spot where Ross was attacked nearly a year ago.
Zora's surprise address will be held promptly at 2100 RST on April 1st, 29480 atop the platform at the southern gate of Omni-1 Entertainment District. Please be prepared to undergo mandatory security scans. Please note that the organizers of this speech are aware of the ancient stigma associated with the chosen date, and that it is totally coincidental.
If you have any news that should be up here, please e-mail me.
If you haven't seen it yet we realeased the first preview article for the upcoming alien raidzone this week. This new playfield and raid experience is now on our test servers for closed testing and will be put through its paces over the comings weeks.

Developer Blog Update
Quest designer Yngvild Lothe has updated her developer blog over at 1UP, so make sure you drop by and say hello! You can find the blog here for a little insight into what goes into making AO work!
Have a great weekend and we see you on Rubi-Ka!
I'll be posting my review of the Anarchy Online on Sunday. My girlfriends mother has flown in from Taiwan and I was told that I had to spend tonight and tomorrow with her. I'm whipped, I know.
IRRK Freelance - Yesterday, XenCorp Prime put a price of 200 million credits on the head of Professor Albrum Vein.
Albrum Vein was the leading scientist of the XenCorp Rubi-Ka Research Facility. The reason why XenCorp Prime wants him dead is because of his betrayal to the corporation and Omni-Tek.
An official of XenCorp Prime said, "Albrum has stolen valuable information of us and sold it to the rebels. As you can understand, we cannot let this happen without punishing him. Since we dont have any permission of Omni-Tek to send a force to eliminate Albrum, we are putting a price on his head. The person that can deliver us his remains will be rewarded with 200 million credits."
The official also stated that a tip which could lead to the capture or execution of Albrum will be rewarded with 10 million credits.
What information Albrum sold to Clan is not known at this time, but rumors suggest that he sold the blueprints of a prototype battle suit designed for assaults on alien vessels.
IRRK Freelance - Newland News - Today an escort was assembled to bring "Miss K" from somewhere near Harry's establishement in Lush Fields to a village of undisclosed location. This somewhat ordinary event was hidding an illegal project.
In the afternoon, Miss Erin "Nikitita" Durnstorr sent a request for assistance to escort one of her friends, Miss K, from Lush Fields to a safer location. They all accepted to help her, even if they were unsure that Miss K really was tracked down by someone, as reported by both women.
Somewhere along the way, Agent "Wencesla" Sefion attempted to perma-kill Miss K. After some warning, Rome "Tipha" Leonheart of Omni-AF SpecialOps, made the atrox employee lower his weapon. Questioned about the reasons for the apparent vendetta, he soon revealed that Miss K had been secretly (and illegally) working on ways to clone younger versions of people. Her motivation appeared to be trying to find a way to revive save OT:RK CEO Philip Ross, whose condition is unknown after receiving serious wounds during an assassination attempt nearly a year ago.
Furthermore, it appeared that Mr. Sefion wasn't operating under official orders despite his repeated assurances that this wasn't the case. Miss Leonheart took him aside but no one knows what they discussed. He is then said to have taken off without causing any more troubles. After that, they all proceeded to the safe location where they left Miss K.
As is the public knowledge, Omni-Tek has clearly stated long ago that one cannot revert to an insured pattern more than a few weeks old, which is the reason for the need to use the terminals often; and of course, it's impossible to duplicate one's life force, or as it is more commonly referred to, their soul.
We leave any theoretical conclusions to our readership.

Topic of the Week: Last Weeks Community Update Print News | Mail News This week's Topic of the Week is last Fridays community update. I know it's a lame topic of the week but we're not seeing a lot of action on the forums. Remember that if your topic is picked to be featured on the front page, you'll get VIP access to the forums for the full week.
This week I plan on having two in-house features: A review of the Anarchy Online novel and my adventure diary. These features will also go along with what I hope to be regular features which are the weekly poll and topic of the week.
Im enjoying the novel and its making me want to play the game more. Part of the problem I had when AO first released is that since its a science fiction setting it doesnt immediately connect to me as a Tolkien fantasy world. The novel is filling in the background for me and getting me excited to complete quests. The review should be up Wednesday or Friday.
I would have had the adventure journal ready for publication today but I ended up having to create a new character. I made a nano shade and then found out that it is one of the harder classes with one of the weaker races for that specific class. I then made a Martial Artist but I dont really like the class. Im back with an Opifex Shade and Im really enjoying it. I may have to push my adventure diary to Monday since I plan on publishing it after every twenty levels.
In the future you can look for more features such as assets from Funcom, interviews, and things of that nature. Im also looking to e-mail heads of the major in-game organizations so if you would like to have your clan or guild featured here at AO Vault, e-mail me.
FJRK - March 12, 29480 will stand as another example of the Clans suffering as a result of Omni-Tek's incompetence and brutish methodology.
It was on that day -- March 12th -- that the sinister nanomage fanatics assaulted the peaceful city of Old Athen. Why? According to some witnesses, these terrorists were shouting things about making residents "pay the price for attacking their facilities." Let's see, who was it who attacked them? Omni-Tek, that's who. Omni-Tek launched a miserable attempt at a "rescue operation" (if you can even call it that), in an attempt to rescue the children captured by these terrorists. The result: three out of the four children found at the facility were killed! One of them was even killed by one of the so-called rescuers. The only survivor, a Clan child, still has not been released to the Clans. No effort has been made to find his or her parents.
When the nanomage terrorists attacked Old Athen, did Omni-Tek come to help us fight? No, instead, they sat back idly as our innocent clansmen and clanswomen were brutally assaulted. That's not to say we need their help, however, as the selfless defenders of the Clan way of life succeeded in defeating these legionaries, but not without paying a heavy price. Many Clanspeople were killed in the battle.
IRRK - Aytar Samson, a mob henchman who had been arrested for several counts of assault and murder, escaped from a prison in Borealis today. His escape did not last long, however, as he was murdered by one of the individuals in the search party.
At approximately 21:00 RST, the ICC sent out a bulletin throughout Borealis warning residents of the prison break. The ICC made it clear that the criminal was dangerous, and that they needed the assistance of residents to track him down so they could return him to jail.
The ICC's efforts were thwarted, however, when Gorgefodder3 and Katralina of the Nanomage Liberation Front attempted to assist Aytar in fleeing authorities. Complicating matters even more, an individual by the name of Psiondeath came about and murdered Aytar in cold blood. The ICC attempted to stop this attack by opening fire on Psiondeath, but he managed to escape before anything could be done.
Thankfully, the ICC had ensured that Aytar's insurance was up to date, so upon his demise he found himself reclaiming at the prison cell that he has become quite familiar with over the past several months. This allows Aytar to continue serving his minimum sentence of 20 years for his crimes.
I'm going to try to make sure that all of the in-game news is posted on AO Vault the day it happens. On weekends this may not happen but it should for news during the week.
With the quests in 16.2 now live and being enjoyed by players in Nascense and Elysium we wanted to elaborate a little today on what is coming up next in terms of new content. As mentioned by the Game Director in his last letter to the players the focus of the next few content updates will be on our high level players.
Therefore the next content update will be the release of a new high level alien playfield that allows veteran players to take the fight deeper into the outzones and sees them facing an even greater alien menance then ever before.
A large scale raid zone, the new alien playfield will be a great challenge that we think the high level community will really enjoy! The playfield is scheduled to go to our test servers in the very near future and keep your eyes out for a preview article next week!

The guys at AO Universe got the chance to catch up with Game Director Morten Byom and have a chat about the upcoming expansion Lost Eden and some of its features!
Here is a little of what he had to say
AOU: Now looking at the official LE site, I'm gonna base the questions on them:
Fight for orbital supremacy by conquering level based battle stations in large PvP battles. Unleash the fury of the heavens.
Does this mean large high level PvP or can lowbies also participate? Will these stations be static or will they spawn like a mission specifically for the teams involved?
Morten: The new PvP areas will be open for every level allowing any level of player to participate in the battles. Players will volunteer to assist their side in the battle and as soon as the next round of reinforcements is ready to be shipped out you are teleported into the fray.
Your level will determine witch battle station instance you will fight on to ensure that you meet players at your own level. The station will be accessible for everyone and is not restricted to your team.
We had to delay the planned update this week as it required some additional testing on our test servers. This small update is to address a couple of the issues pet users have been experiencing in the 16.2 update and should be ready for the live servers early this week.
Please click the link above for the full interview. If you have any news that needs to be posted, please e-mail me.
